About

JaneHi, my name is Jane and Scissors & Pins Studio is an idea I have nurtured for a while. To create a textiles space where I can share my love of creativity by teaching and inspiring people to use their hands to make useful and or beautiful items.

Textiles in its widest sense is something I have always practised, it started with making of clothes for my dolls and furnishing my dolls house through to my Masters at the Royal College of Art. This led to a career in textile design working in the UK and abroad.

More recently I have been teaching within the secondary sector and relished sharing my interest in design, textiles and food as a Design Technology teacher in Gloucestershire. I was lucky enough to be voted ‘Outstanding Newcomer’ at the Design and Technology Association Teaching Excellence Awards.

But since becoming a Mum I have wanted to change direction and finally taken the leap to set up Scissors & Pins Studio in the basement of our house.

I hope you find a workshop that interests you and I look forward to meeting you and sharing my joy for creativity and sewing.
